How to Work Smart<\/h2>\n

It can be scary and overwhelming to handle your career. You\u2019re bombarded with thoughts about security, money, success\u2014not to mention how to juggle a career with other things going on in your life.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t totally rid yourself of questions like these because let\u2019s face it, it just comes with the territory, a.k.a. The Real World.<\/p>\n

If you entertain these thoughts constantly and you don\u2019t know how to handle them, you\u2019re going to get worn down by the end of your day. So here are a few suggestions on how to lessen your worries.<\/p>\n

Affirmations<\/h3>\n

Start your day by telling yourself you can face anything, you\u2019re on the right track, and that you have your eyes on the prize.<\/p>\n

By waking up with a positive frame of mind about your chosen career, you are more likely to feel confident enough to answer those questions in your head, or at least to shrug them off because you know you\u2019re doing the right thing.<\/p>\n

Be Organized<\/h3>\n

One thing that can really help you keep on track is to actually keep track. Think of yourself as your own company, with your own Mission-Vision statement, with your own objectives, methods, and goals.<\/p>\n

Memorize that by heart, but also write it down so you have a more concrete reminder of why you\u2019re doing what you\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n

Being organized in your career also means you organize actual tasks. Make it a habit to have to-do lists (both for work and for other aspects of your day like home chores). Lists will help you not to panic and to manage your time wisely.<\/p>\n

Prioritize<\/h3>\n

When you already know what tasks you have laid out for the day, you should start putting them in order from what is most difficult to do down to the easiest.<\/p>\n

By starting with the difficult tasks, you utilize the energy you have at the start of the day and go through the rest with relative ease.<\/p>\n

Avoid productivity black holes<\/h3>\n

What are these, you ask? These include, but are not limited to, playing games on your gadgets, engaging in office gossip, and watching the clock.<\/p>\n

You have to show everyone, especially yourself, that you take your job seriously. If you get distracted by these, chances are, you\u2019re not going to be accomplishing a whole lot, and that can even get you fired!<\/p>\n

Save<\/h3>\n

To avoid worrying about your finances, about your job security, give yourself some independence by saving for a rainy day.<\/p>\n

Some experts say that savings is an expense. It\u2019s not what you set aside after spending, but rather something you \u2018spend\u2019 from the get-go.<\/p>\n

Set aside at least 20% of your monthly earnings. If you can have it automatically go to another account that you can\u2019t easily reach into, the better.<\/p>\n

Sometimes you don\u2019t need to work harder, but smarter. By knowing yourself, your goals, and your path, you can already trim the unnecessary worry in your day and ultimately your life. You might find that you don\u2019t need so much, after all, to make your dreams come true.<\/p>\n
