Being the Real You<\/h2>\n

In a world that\u2019s constantly telling you who you should be, what you should be driving, what phone you should be using, which places you need to visit, sometimes the question hits you, \u201cIs this me?\u201d<\/p>\n

We often get trapped between who we want to be, who others want us to be, and how the world tells us who we should be.<\/p>\n

The lines between get so blurred that we sometimes lose track of our original ideas.<\/p>\n

To be truly happy, you need to know the real you. Once you know who you are, the rest will come to you.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the things you should ask yourself.<\/p>\n

Who was I yesterday?<\/h3>\n

Before you can really know yourself, you need to look back at your life and see what kind of person you started out with.<\/p>\n

How were you as a child, as a teenager, and an adult?<\/p>\n

Reflect on the changes that have taken place, how you have improved, what did you outgrow through the years, that sort of thing.<\/p>\n

Who am I today?<\/h3>\n

Once you know where you\u2019ve come from, that will take you to the YOU you are today.<\/p>\n

Once you\u2019re at this point in time, assess the things you still need to develop.<\/p>\n

What do you feel can be better? How do you go about changing this?<\/p>\n

Who do I want to be tomorrow?<\/h3>\n

Answers to the questions above will help you determine your goal, the person you envision yourself as, your best self.<\/p>\n

Of course, even when we feel at our best, it doesn\u2019t last. And that\u2019s a good thing because humans always have that inkling to better themselves.<\/p>\n

What kind of life do I want?<\/h3>\n

When you know exactly who you are, what your strengths and weaknesses are, what you\u2019re passionate about, what influences you and all that, you can now start formulating the kind of lifestyle that fits you.<\/p>\n

This is where you get to figure out the style of clothes looks best on you, what kind of career fits the lifestyle you want to build, where you want to live, etc.<\/p>\n

A big factor in that is how we were raised. Our first home is our first glimpse of what life is, so we define our dream on the basis of that.<\/p>\n

Either we want to build the same life or we want to do it better. And what\u2019s better according to your standards?<\/p>\n

And lastly, do I have the courage to live according to my standards?<\/p>\n

This is the hardest part of life\u2014living it honestly. It seems like a simple enough concept to do, but it takes a strong character to have the courage to live according to ones\u2019 own standards.<\/p>\n

Too many people are unhappy because they are living life the way others want them to live or they try to live pleasing others more than themselves.<\/p>\n

You are in charge of creating the person you are happy with and the life that comes with maintaining that happiness. So realize that you need to live your life for yourself and not for others.<\/p>\n

The path to happiness will always start with you. Remember that.<\/p>\n
