People often look too far to see happiness. They think it\u2019s something to strive for, to attain in the future, something to sacrifice the present for. But happiness is not that.<\/p>\n

We get preoccupied with working long hours, saving every dime, finding more ways to shortcut our way through life just to see if happiness is around the corners we cut.<\/p>\n

But finding happiness is not just a goal. It is the method in which we live.<\/p>\n

It is the everyday things that make you feel alive. It is not what\u2019s there just at the end of the day, but the essence of everything you do that day.<\/p>\n

The reason why people don\u2019t feel happy is because they think it\u2019s something far from their reach. That happiness is a reward of some sort, something that\u2019s achieved or given to you after suffering or paying your dues.<\/p>\n

Some people don\u2019t know what it takes to make themselves happy because they get lost in other people\u2019s ideas of what happiness is. Happiness is relative.<\/p>\n

Even though there are similarities to what makes people happy, it doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s exactly the same.<\/p>\n

What will make you happy?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

When asked this existential question, most people don\u2019t know how to answer it. Not because they don\u2019t know, but because they\u2019re afraid to answer honestly.<\/p>\n

A lot of criticism fills the air every time someone answers what makes them happy.<\/p>\n

For people who answer it\u2019s making a home, the career-oriented ones tend to think that\u2019s not a real goal. That there should be something more than devoting your time to your loved ones.<\/p>\n

Something that garners wealth and success that can be measured quantitatively.<\/p>\n

For the people who think everything of their careers, they are thought of as selfish and materialistic.<\/p>\n

For those who seek happiness in ordinary living, in reaching a good work-life balance, they can be thought of as slackers, as people without ambition.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s so much judgment coming from every direction that people get scared admitting what it is that truly makes them happy and tend to jump on the bandwagon definition, one that requires the least amount of justification.<\/p>\n

Happiness requires one thing–COURAGE. That is why a lot of people fail at being happy.<\/p>\n

It is the courage to be honest to yourself, and to the world about what makes you happy that serves as the first step to finding it.<\/p>\n

Go for it! <\/strong><\/h3>\n

When you have finally figured out what it is that would make you happy, the courage to live accordingly is what you now need.<\/p>\n

See, not everyone reaches this level in the \u2018search for happiness\u2019.<\/p>\n

Sometimes when we realize that what makes us happy is something unconventional or is something that\u2019s frowned upon, especially in the circles we navigate, we tend to compromise towards what the multitude is comfortable with accepting.<\/p>\n

Those who do this justify their cowardliness as \u2018being considerate of others\u2019 or \u201cactually this is what I really want\u201d, but they\u2019re only cheating themselves of the real chance to be happy.<\/p>\n

Then they\u2019ll complain later on that they\u2019re not happy and that they\u2019re living lives that aren\u2019t true to themselves.<\/p>\n

If you want something, be brave enough to go after it. It shouldn\u2019t matter who it goes against as long as you\u2019re being honest about the kind of life you want to live.<\/p>\n

Your life is your own and the only person you need to answer to is yourself.<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t need a justification for who you are and what you want. The right people will stick with you and be happy for your happiness.<\/p>\n

So conquer your fear and find what works for you.<\/p>\n
