4 Things that Strengthen Relationships<\/h2>\n

There are things that tests people\u2019s strength and weaknesses and it becomes slightly more complicated when you belong in a duo.<\/p>\n

Make or break scenarios can be found in the simplest of things. From sleeping on the wrong side of the bed to squeezing your toothpaste on the wrong end of the tube. It seems funny but these things do add up.<\/p>\n

This is where your compatibility shows, among other things. It also tests your ability to compromise, to check how much you really want to be with this person, and how much you\u2019re willing to change, etc.<\/p>\n

Here are some scenarios that serve to strengthen you and your partner:<\/p>\n

Travel <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Travel entails a lot of things. It comes in stages– planning, the booking, the execution. While you may expect or wish that both of you do everything together, it\u2019s more likely that you won\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Not everyone is good at each stage. Your partner might not be good with planning the trip, but they might be better at executing the plans you laid out. Things like that.<\/p>\n

Travel shows the strengths and weaknesses as individuals. You learn which ones you excel in and what your partner excels in.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be disheartened when you discover that you\u2019re not the same types of travelers. Sometimes it\u2019s better that you complement each other because you cover more bases.<\/p>\n

Cooking<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In this case, instead of showcasing individual strengths and weaknesses, it\u2019s more about your strength as a team.<\/p>\n

Even though it\u2019s also something that tests individual skills, the main thing is knowing how to follow instructions, how to work well together towards the same goal.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a certain fluidity needed in the kitchen. Cooking tests your rapport together, how well you can take directions from each other, and how to communicate well with each other.<\/p>\n

Long Distance<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Long distance relationships are not for everybody. There are some people who don\u2019t do well with being physically removed from their partners.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not because they\u2019re clingy, but it could be a shortcoming in a different department.<\/p>\n

You need to build a really strong foundation for communication if you and your partner are considering this kind of setup.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll need to find ways to show affection as you can\u2019t do it physically, you\u2019ll need to be more astute in your partner\u2019s tone and choice of words, you\u2019ll need to be more considerate when you\u2019re fighting, and many more things that add to the challenge of being together but not really.<\/p>\n

Like all things, it has its pros and cons, but for a relationship, it can be more of the latter. There are certain needs in a relationship that just can\u2019t be satisfied when you\u2019re more apart than you are together.<\/p>\n

Family get togethers<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Everybody grew up differently from each other. Even siblings will have different memories of their childhood even if they grew up in the same household.<\/p>\n

No matter how hard your parents might have tried to keep treatment equal for you and your siblings, it can\u2019t be helped that you will still feel differently and have your own take-aways from how you were brought up.<\/p>\n

This factors in how you relate to a partner. You will discover how different you were brought up and this could cause some serious rift between you guys or it could bring you closer.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why being invited to each other\u2019s family get togethers are crucial. You\u2019ll see how their family operates, what values they grew up with, etc.<\/p>\n

This is important so that you can better understand your partner, and also so you know how you\u2019ll build your family later on if ever.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a sneak peek of sorts. And that\u2019s not all there is to it.<\/p>\n

It works both ways. It\u2019s also a way for their family to get to know you.<\/p>\n

So this involves some best foot forwarding type of show as well.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the easiest to get along with your own family, let alone get along with and impress a bunch of strangers who are essential to your relationship.<\/p>\n

No matter what the challenge is, always keep in mind that you are strong, and you are in it as a unit. Your failures are theirs and vice versa.<\/p>\n

Your triumphs, no matter how small, count as a big thing. Do it together.<\/p>\n

In the end, choose to love, however that figures in the situation.<\/p>\n
