How to Have Everything<\/h2>\n

People say you can\u2019t have everything. Well, that just isn\u2019t true.<\/p>\n

You can. And you should.<\/p>\n

Before you say I\u2019m living in a dream world, perhaps I am. But we live in the same world, and I see potential all around me.<\/p>\n

Having everything doesn\u2019t have to be impossible.<\/h1>\n

If you adjust definitions, change your parameters, and open yourself up to unorthodox possibilities, there\u2019s nothing that will stop you from living the life you want.<\/p>\n

With that said, here are some things you need to think about before you get everything you want.<\/p>\n

First of all…<\/p>\n

Know what you want<\/strong><\/h3>\n

You can\u2019t have everything if you don\u2019t even know what constitutes \u2018everything\u2019 in your life.<\/p>\n

Be specific about it.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t just say you want a job, say you want a job in publishing, or in medicine, or in whatever field it is you want. Once you know that, you can determine what path you\u2019re going to take getting there.<\/p>\n

The same goes for the goals that you set up.<\/p>\n

If you want a promotion in x-number of years, what do you have to do. If you want to switch companies after x-number of years in your current company, what\u2019s your end goal?<\/p>\n

Knowing what you want doesn\u2019t just apply to your career.<\/p>\n

Apply the same principle in the kind of partner that you envision yourself with, in the family you want to build, etc.<\/p>\n

But remember, knowing what you want is just a guide for you, to have a direction. It\u2019s not fixed.<\/p>\n

Which brings us to the next…<\/p>\n

Be flexible<\/strong><\/h3>\n

There is a balance you need to work in life. While it may sound as opposing ideas to know what you want specifically and being flexible, it isn\u2019t so.<\/p>\n

Like I said, knowing what you want is just a guide so you will have direction and purpose in your life.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t go on just being laissez faire about it and expect to have everything you want.<\/p>\n

For example, if you say you want to be a writer in a publishing company, but the opening for that company is for an editorial assistant, will you take the job or not?<\/p>\n

If you do, that means you would have a job in the company\/field that you want, but not the specific job you want. But it\u2019s not something that you can\u2019t negotiate later on with your boss.<\/p>\n

The important thing is that you already have a foot in the door. That\u2019s what it means to be flexible.<\/p>\n

The key to having everything is your ability to compromise.<\/p>\n

While others view compromise as winning or losing sometimes, you need to be able to condition yourself that compromise is the key to winning small and winning bigger later on.<\/p>\n

So last, but not the least, you need to….<\/p>\n

Shift perspective<\/strong><\/h3>\n

You can\u2019t look at something and see what it isn\u2019t. You have to look at it and see what it could be.<\/p>\n

Just because something comes to you in a form that\u2019s not recognizable as what you wanted, you ignore it or toss it aside.<\/p>\n

Study it carefully, from all angles, and see how it fits in your ideal. It might not come to you in the form that you expected, but it could just be wearing a disguise.<\/p>\n

Be wise enough to look from a different view before judging an opportunity.<\/p>\n

What you need to remember in order to have everything is that you can. It\u2019s all in how you approach the concept.<\/p>\n
