Visualization Secrets: The Power of Details and Emotions
“I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.” ― Oscar Wilde
Many people are already aware of the potential power of visualization. But most of us can’t make this potential a reality.
Like Henry, who has been reading a lot about self-help and the Law of Attraction.
He likes the idea of visualization and he told himself he’ll make a habit out of it.
So, he wakes up in the morning and he imagines his life in the future. He spends 3 to 5 minutes seeing himself successful, wealthy, happy and healthy.
He does this consistently. He doesn’t want to miss a day because he thinks it’ll go bad if he did. So, every day upon waking up, he sits and imagines.
Everything looks fine, but Henry knows something is wrong. Because even after doing this every single day for almost 4 months now…
It doesn’t seem like anything in his life is improving!
Henry wonders why…
Do you know why?
Meet Jane.
Like Henry, Jane reads a lot about self-help and the Law of Attraction.
She also visualizes, but not as much as Henry does. It’s not a routine for her. It’s just something she does when she feels like it.
She sits in a comfortable position. She takes her time to clear her mind. She makes contact with peace, serenity, love, and harmony in spirit.
And then she goes imagining.
She sees herself in a great outfit with the specific color of that dress, working as a VP in a company that she likes…
Holding a white envelope with important papers and documents inside, neatly arranged…
She’s presenting something in front of the company executives and she sees exactly how the room looks like.
She sees the company executives listening to her and paying attention to what she’s saying.
Flash forward in her imagination, she’s now driving home, riding her dream car…
She knows exactly what the brand is, what the model is, the year it was released. She knows how it looks like inside, how it looks like outside. She knows how it smells, how it sounds.
She feels the steering wheel in her hands. She steps on the accelerator, feeling the engine rev up as she does.
She loves the feeling of shifting smoothly between gears, being in control. As her sleek, shiny car picks up the pace, so does her heart.
She’s moving at an impressive speed now, but she’s still in control with both hands on the wheel and eyes forward.
Arriving home, she sees herself parking in her garage. She knows what her dream house looks like and she’s imagining how she’s parking her car in her garage.
Her husband greets her happily. Her kids come to her with a hug. She feels the warm, loving atmosphere of her home. She knows what it’s like to have a wonderful, loving, harmonious family consisting of beautiful people.
And so, on and so forth.
Did you feel that too?
It’s so detailed and it’s so heartfelt. It’s almost as if it doesn’t need to happen anymore because Jane lived it already!
And oh, by the way, Jane isn’t married yet. She left out some details regarding her husband in her visualization because she’s open to the surprises of the Universe.
As the weeks go by, Jane notices several little life improvements which add up over time. She feels she’s on the right path because she knows how it feels. Because in her heart and mind, she’s been there before.
And soon enough, I know she’ll meet the guy of her dreams.
It may not be exactly as the way she imagines him to be, but her gratitude will extend towards the Universe nonetheless. The Universe knows better anyway.
Henry’s visualization is so vague compared to Jane’s. Henry did it every day for the sake of doing it every day.
And even if Jane did not do it regularly, she enjoys doing it because she does it for the sake of feeling how it feels and seeing herself living the life of her dreams.
While it’s good to make it a habit, it’s better to do it mindfully with good intentions, not just to do it because it’s a habit.
Imagine how better it’ll be if Henry did it like how Jane does it? I’m sure he’ll attract his dream life much more quickly!
How Does It Work?
The Universe responds to energy.
Emotions are more charged with energy than just plain boring thoughts.
And details help you feel emotions when you’re visualizing. Therefore, details add energy to the activity.
Here are some things to remember when you’re about to do your visualization sessions:
Before visualizing, state your intentions. Why will you do it? How would you like it to be? Intend that you will feel as much as you can. And that you’ll be as specific and detailed.
And to have variety, so you don’t always visualize the same thing repeatedly—much like watching a movie repeatedly, here are some starting points to help you start your journey. Remember, eyes closed.
• Waking Up – See yourself waking up on your dream bed, what color is your bed and pillows? How comfortable does it feel? Try to feel the sheet touching your skin. Try to feel the cool air of the room. What time is it?
Personally, I think it’s easier to visualize when the only star in the film is yourself, especially if you’re still starting out. But if you can…
Who are you with? When you look right or left, who is that person who slept with you? If you’re not sure who he or she is, you can refer to them as your “dream partner.”
If you can’t quite paint that picture yet, don’t stress about it. The Universe can fill in those gaps and give you the best.
Like Jane, just do what you can and add as many details as you can. At the same time, keep yourself open to the surprises of the Universe.
After bed, what do you do? If you want to brush your teeth, how does your bathroom look? How does it feel to brush your teeth?
Basically, write a script on what you love to do after waking up. Do you meditate? Do you have a room specifically designed for meditation? How does it feel meditating when you’re already living the dream? Go as deep as you can.
After doing your morning routine in your own film, what do you do next? The rest is up to you. Just remember two things: details and emotions.
At Your Dream Job – See how Jane started her session above?
What are you wearing? Where are you? What company do you work for?
What is your job description? What are the specific tasks and responsibilities you take ownership of?
How do you add value to your team? How do your contributions make you the superstar at the office?
Imagine connecting with the people at work.
Picture yourself working with them, laughing with them, lifting each other up.
Imagine being in a healthy, dynamic environment where you can thrive and excel.
How do you inspire your colleagues? How do you lift them up and empower them to propel the company to even greater heights?
The Universe is willing to open the floodgates of abundance, so don’t limit yourself to things that are physically existing right now.
What is yet to exist physically, already exists in the Mind of the Universe. You might be the one to start the company, who knows?
Again, what time is it? Is it almost lunchtime or late afternoon? Are you almost done for the day and ready to go home?
What car would you drive on the way home? Or maybe you plan to commute so you won’t contribute to the traffic. This is your dream. You decide.
The point is to be as detailed as possible and focus on how awesome it feels. Reach the point where you let go of the desire to make it happen because it’s as if you’ve almost lived it.
That’s when the magic of manifestation truly happens. It will be almost automatic!
And remember the disclaimer: some details are better left to the Universe’s decision. Your car in the future might not physically exist yet, so you can’t be as precise as you would if you really know the car.
But try to give as much details as possible, while still being open to surprises.
Here are some more starting points:
• After work
• Before sleeping
• A meeting at work
• In your dream car
• Walking around your dream house
• Walking around your dream office
• Doing what you love
Wrapping It Up
Here are some points to remember so you can visualize effectively like Jane:
Be detailed, but open to surprises. Feel the dream.
Relax before you begin your session. State your intentions.
Be grateful after your session as you know it is done by the Universe.
Experience everything, use all your senses. How does your back feel when you sit in your dream car? What’s the texture of the flooring of your dream house?
And if you can do it regularly, without losing the thrill and the excitement of it. Do it.
I promise you if you do it like this, it’ll be a calming, blissful, fun, and relaxing experience.
Those benefits themselves are worth the time to visualize. Not to mention the manifestation power of the activity.
