How to Make Your Mornings Count

All too often we hear people complaining about mornings being such a chore, a drag, a party-pooper of the weekend.

Well, on some level, it is. But you have to admit, waking up for another day is quite a blessing. And what do we do when we receive blessings? We give thanks.

Sure, waking up to a Monday morning can feel like you’re getting a white sock on Christmas. But hey, it’s still better than nothing, am I right?

So here are some ways you can make your mornings feel like a blessing rather than a curse.

General Cleaning

Never underestimate the power of clean working space. If you work at home or you have a desk that houses your bills, files, etc, you need to make it a habit of keeping that corner tidy.

Invest in those organizing bins, folders, and whatnots that seem trivial but brilliantly cater to specific organizational problems. Even cable ties can do wonders for your wires!

If you think about it, waking up to a messy house or an office space that houses dust along with a lot of paperwork will really affect how you feel about getting up. Nobody wants to leave their cozy beds for a dirty, unkempt workspace.

A little regular cleaning will help you wake up on the right side of the bed.

Personalize

There are so many styles and trends coming out these days that it’s sometimes hard to choose the look that genuinely reflects you.

When it comes to your space, whether it’s your room, your office, or your car, you need to fill it with things that make you feel like it’s an extension of yourself.

For example, your desk, it has to embody a characteristic that’s undoubtedly you. Maybe you’ll opt for a standing desk because you like a more active approach when tackling work, or maybe you want a clean, white desk that comes with a puffy chair, or for your car, you like the smell of fabric softener rather than a strong car deodorizer.

Anything goes of course, as long as you feel “at home” amongst your things.

Next, you need to put words of encouragement that’s visible to you. It may sound cheesy but positive affirmations are known to actually boost your confidence especially when it’s constantly within your visual line.

Anything that can inspire you should be strategically placed in your space. Words, symbols, and other things can serve as simple reminders.

Challenge yourself

For those who weren’t born morning-people, it can actually feel like a Survivor type of challenge to just wake up, get up, and get your butt in the shower.

We always end up saying it’s too early for a serious conversation, or to take a work call that probably needs problem-solving skills, but it should be a good time to open your mind to the infinite possibilities that the day holds!

Put a brain teaser on your end table or on your gadget so that you can reach for it first thing and wake your mind up. It’s never too early for a creative exercise.
