Numerology breaks down the patterns of the universe into numbers. It uses these numbers to uncover information about the world as a whole as well as each individual.
It’s used to indicate opportunities and challenges, and many use it as a self-help tool to live their best lives.
For the world as a whole, 2018 is a year for LEARNING and GROWTH.
For you personally, we’ll need to factor in your own personal birth year, birth date and birth name to calculate what this year means for you more precisely.
Here is a resource that does this all for you automatically, so that you do not have to do these calculations for yourself:
Free Personalized Numerology Reading for 2018
2018 is an 11 year.
2 + 0 + 1 + 8 = 11
11 is a MASTER number (one that does not get reduced to a single digit), and it signifies that it’s time to embrace our greater potential.
This year is the year to realize the best in our potential, to be humble and enjoy the journey that we are on (even more so than the destinations we seek to get to).
It’s also a year that we must look to inspire the best in others.
Your Life Path Number
In Numerology, each of us has a Life Path Number, created from the sum of our birth date.
This Life Path Number tells us who we are at birth, and then highlights not only your life’s purpose, but also your challenges, tendencies, and obstacles that you’ll encounter in life.
In essence, your Life Path Number shows a map of your life experience.
Discovering your Life Path Number is as easy as adding the numbers in your birthday year, as explained below.
We also have Master Numbers to consider, but let’s stick to the simple method first.
Calculating your Life Path Number
Let’s walk through this together.
Step 1. To start, simply write out your full birth date, which means using the full year you were born: 1990 instead of just 90.
To illustrate, I’m going to use November 3, 1979, so it would be written as 11-03-1979. (I’ll go through this for the simple number and then show you something about master numbers.)
I’ll go through several other examples as well to ensure you understand the method.
Step 2. Now we’ll reduce each set to a single digit number.
So take the first set (the month, 11) and add it together. 1 + 1 = 2.
Then take the day (03) and add those two numbers together. We get 3.
Finally take the year, 1979, and add those numbers together. 1 + 9 + 7 + 9. We get 26.
If you get two digits for any step, continue adding the numbers together until you get one. So for the year, we add 2 + 6 = 8.
We now have 3 single digits: 2, 3, 8.
Step 3. Add these 3 numbers together until you get a single digit number.
When we add our numbers, we get 13. We add those (because it’s a 2 digit number) and get the Life Path Number 4.
I’ll go through the process with May 7, 1991.
05-07-1991. So 0+5, 0+7, 1+9+9+1
5-7-20, or 5-7-2+0
5-7-2
14, so 1+4=5. The Life Path Number is 5.
Now I’ll use a date that has double digits to begin with, such as December 17, 1995.
12-17-1995. (1+2, 1+7, 1+9+9+5)
2-8-24. (Then add 2+4 to reduce that number.)
2-8-6.
16 = 1+6=7. The Life Path Number is 7.
One last example to show how quickly you can do this once you learn how:
4-25-1976
4-7-23
4-7-5
16 = 7
Master Numbers
So before we dive into what the different numbers mean, I’d like to talk about the Master Numbers 11 and 22.
The calculating method isn’t really different, except that if one of your numbers is 11 or 22, you don’t reduce that number.
That’s why the example of November 3, 1979 is interesting.
Let’s say we calculated the Life Path Number this way:
11-3-1979
11 + 3 + (1+9+7+9) *We don’t add 11 as 1+1, but leave it as 11.
11 + 3 + 26
11 + 3 + 8 = 22.
Now the Life Path Number is 22, which correlates to The Master Builder. (I’ll explain that one with the other numbers.)
If any of your numbers add up to a total of 11, you wouldn’t reduce that to 2. So if you’re down to one number to reduce and it’s 11, that’s your number instead of 2.
The Life Path number 11 correlates to The Healer.
So are you ready to find out more about the different numbers?
What your Life Path Number Means
Each number shows us a different set of traits, as follows:
Life Path 1: The Leader – masters originality, creativity, confidence, and achievement. This number is determined and courageous. Think about what you’re really passionate about and how you can express that in a unique way.
Life Path 2: The Mediator – fosters love, balance, harmony, and cooperation. This number is patient and supportive. Think about a life where you feel connected and valued.
Life Path 3: The Communicator – develops joy, inspired communication, self expression, and sensitivity. The Communicator is expressive, artistic, optimistic, and witty. Think not just of public speakers or “people person” types, but all kinds of artists and entertainers. So the big question for you is moving past doubt and using your creative talents to the fullest.
Life Path 4: The Teacher – develops security, stability, and processes. This number is dependable, stable, loyal, and works hard to reach goals and dreams. Consider finding a career that you feel passionate about, because you won’t be happy with something just for the money.
Life Path 5: The Freedom Seeker – seeks freedom and adventure, and is resilient, fearless, flexible, and fun. The Freedom Seeker wants to explore and enjoy the world, so follow a life path that won’t hinder your spirit.
Life Path 6: The Nurturer—is all about service to others, nurturing, acceptance, and being a visionary. This number is also very family-focused, romantic, artistic, devoted, and loving. The Nurturer should work to not be controlling, but inspire others to follow.
Life Path 7: The Seeker—this number develops intuition but also analysis, trust, openness, and even spirituality. The Seeker might seek truth, data, wisdom, and knowledge. Your path is one of balancing intellect and the spiritual.
Life Path 8: The Powerhouse – as the name implies, this number develops control, authority, creates and grows riches, and loves to enjoy abundance and material gain. This number can be very powerful and yet also giving. Strive to think big and look ahead to success, and helping others.
Life Path 9: The Humanitarian – develops spirituality, creativity, wisdom, and integrity. The ninth number is compassionate, generous, and idealistic. The nice thing about this sign is being able to be successful at whatever you feel passion for. The trick is balancing your creativity and desire to give.
Life Path 11: The Healer – this number’s purpose to be an inspired healer or a spiritual catalyst, or maybe even an artist. 11 draws from 2, so consider those traits as well. This number has a higher purpose that you will need to define. The Healer is intuitive, supportive, patient, and psychically gifted, but will need to take inspired actions to heal yourself and others.
Life Path 22: The Master Builder – a big thinker, innovator, and catalyst with the potential to enlighten and impact others, possibly the world. Again, look to the single digit number for more guidance too; in this case, number 4. This number is very influential! But that can make some fearful. So the trick with this number is to rise above that fear to share your gift with the world.
And of course these are very brief explanations for each life path, but now you know how to calculate your Life Path Number and what it means!
