Top 4 Resolutions You Should Make This Year
Year after year, admittedly, you make the same resolutions, only to find that by day 2, you’re not so keen on keeping them.
Resolutions are tricky because we’re all overwhelmed by the prospect of a clean slate, and we’re overcome with so much emotion, so much passion to make THIS time, different.
But as we soon find out after the sky has been cleared of the smoke from celebrations on the eve, and the last Dixie cup has been thrown, there is more to it than just having the intention to keep it.
So how do you plan to execute said resolutions? By keeping in mind your purpose for making them.
Here are a few of the things you can and should vow to change this 2016.
#1. Less is more
Less socializing on social media, more on actual interaction. Less on expenses, more on experiences. Less on superficial relationships, more on cultivating deeper ones.
No matter where life takes you, you always seem to want more. We are human after all.
We’re programmed to believe that we need to soar to greater heights in order to remain relevant – but that’s not to say that greater means acquiring more things that are not likely to make us happy in the long run.
Simplifying your life is the key. Recognize your priorities and follow through accordingly.
#2. Diet is out, healthy is in
Every year, without fail, people vow to be on certain diets, to lose weight, etc. While this is a noble thing to promise, the problem is that people lose sight of why they are doing it in the first place.
The goal should be to aim for a healthy living, whatever that might entail. Maybe it’s not the diet that’s the problem, maybe it’s a lack of exercise. Maybe the diet fails because it’ not the right type for you.
Aim to set more realistic goals in terms of your weight loss. Space it out a couple of months before you expect to see results. It’s not something that should be a short term goal.
Being healthier is something that you imbibe and live on a daily basis, not some fad.
#3. See the real you
A lot of us are our toughest critics. We always see the worst in ourselves because that’s easier than seeing the beauty behind our flaws.
But the thing is, we are all beautiful because of those flaws.
Our imperfections make us unique. Yes, everyone’s a little messy, a little quirky, but we’re all carrying a variation of these character traits.
The formula that makes you YOU is why you are special.
Try to be more positive when viewing yourself.
#4. Kindness as religion
Be kind to yourself and to others as well.
Some people are naturally akin to opening themselves up to strangers, to friends, to everyone. Others need a little bit more push to do that. But kindness can be practiced no matter what.
Try to be more relaxed, smile more, be more patient when dealing with queries, be more helpful.
Kindness can be a habit that you pick up if you try hard enough.
