Managing ‘Blah’ Days

Ever feel like today just isn’t your day? Like something’s wrong, but you can’t quite put a finger on it? Well, you’re not alone.

Every single person has days like this. Days when you feel stressed, anxious, angry, and irritable over things that normally don’t affect you or at least not that much.

This kind of day makes you feel unattractive, sluggish, and unproductive—and you don’t quite know how to snap yourself out of this slump.

You don’t quite understand your mood, but you have a vague idea of what’s making you feel like it, it’s just that you’re not in the best shape to face it.

Well, here are some tips on how to get yourself together when this hits you.

#1. Identify at least one issue

For the most part, when days hit you like this, you don’t know where all the emotions are flying in from because they seem to come at you from every direction and it’s hard to recall which came first.

But on the other hand, there’s probably one trigger that stands out in your head. It might be that you’ve tried to suppress it or push it to the back of your head that’s why it doesn’t surface so easily, but it’s there.

It could be anger directed towards someone that you didn’t address that’s why it festered inside of you and branched out to different emotions.

It could be anxiety from something you failed to do or avoided doing that’s why it’s haunting you.

If you could identify what it is, you would have an easier time managing the rest of your emotions that stem from that.

#2. Healthy outlet

Research has found that one of the best ways to deal with an emotional blockage is to shift it to something physical.

To some people, it can be easier to deal with physical pain than emotional pain because it’s something more tangible.

It’s something that you can see, touch, and readily handle. For people like this, a good cry, a long run, or a rigorous boxing session could really alleviate the burden they feel inside.

It doesn’t necessarily help you sort through your emotions, but the point is to unclog the emotional blockage by purging it from your system.

There’s no guarantee that your issues get solved or sorted out after, but it does guarantee you’ll feel better or stronger.

#3. Do something extraordinary

Routine can be calming, but it can also exacerbate the feeling of being in a rut or being stuck, and if you’re in a surplus of emotions, being on a loop with those feelings can really do a number on you.

Instead, try to do something that’s out of character or something spontaneous. Doing something different will help you get a different perspective, but if not, at the very least, it will get you out of a vicious cycle of intense emotions.

You have to fight the feeling of being bogged down by what you’re experiencing inside. The heaviness of your burden should challenge you to punch through.

If you let it defeat you, if you let your emotions rule over you, you will always fear days like this.

You have to tell yourself that you can handle anything that life throws at you, and believe it. Your mind game should be strong enough for you to manifest the results that you want.

It’s all about willing yourself to make things happen.
